Cumulase is the first and
only recombinant human hyaluronidase for cumulus removal in the IVF process.
Cumulase replaces bovine and ovine animal-derived hyaluronidases used
to prepare oocytes for certain in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures.
Thanks to recombinant DNA technology, Cumulase has many advantages over
existing slaughterhouse-derived hyaluronidase enzymes. The purity of Cumulase
is up to 100-fold higher than currently used bovine preparations, allowing
for lot-to-lot consistency that animal extract suppliers cannot deliver.
It may also reduce, if not eliminate, the risk of damage or trauma to
the oocytes, and eliminates the risk of animal pathogen contamination,
providing a safer, purer, and more reliable alternative to slaughterhouse-derived
enzymes.
